Who is Photon Energy?

Founded in 2008, Photon Energy delivers comprehensive clean energy solutions around the world.

Our work includes full-lifecycle services for solar power and energy storage systems, as well as energy trading and flexibility solutions. We’re also an Independent Power Producer, with a growing portfolio of solar power plants in Europe and South Africa.

Powering Africa's Energy Future

We have multiple projects at various stages of development in South Africa, including our flagship project in Winterton, which has received Strategic Integrated Project status from Infrastructure South Africa.

Through our emerging presence in the region, we aim to contribute to a stable, sustainable energy infrastructure while helping local businesses access solar power to increase energy security and reduce electricity costs.

Our Story

2008

Photon Energy is founded, delivering solar power solutions in Central Europe.

2009

We construct our first PV projects, including our first proprietary power plant.

2012

We establish our office in Australia and our new corporate HQ in the Netherlands.

2017

Photon Water is founded, marking the beginning of Photon Energy Group.

2020

We enter into our strategic partnership with RayGen.

2021

We begin developing solar projects in South Africa.

2025

Our project in Winterton receives Strategic Integrated Project status.
